AUSTRIA: JJ’s “Wasted Love” Released for Eurovision 2025!


Austria’s entry for Eurovision 2025, “Wasted Love”, has officially been released! The song is a collaboration between JJ and Teodora Špirić (Teya), who previously represented Austria at Eurovision 2023 and Thomas Thurner.

Who is JJ?

Born Johannes Pietsch in 2001, JJ is an emerging Austrian singer-songwriter known for blending pop music with operatic influences. Hailing from Vienna, he has already built an impressive career, participating in “The Voice UK” (2020) and Austria’s “Starmania” (2021). He is currently studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, following his earlier training at the Vienna State Opera’s opera school.

Austria’s Selection Process

Austria’s national broadcaster ORF internally selected JJ and “Wasted Love” through a rigorous process involving 30 domestic and international music industry experts, as well as representatives from international OGAE fan clubs.

Austria has been drawn to compete in the 2nd Semi-Final of Eurovision 2025, which will take place on May 15, 2025. JJ will perform in the first half of the semi-final (positions 1-8).
