The Athens Rebetiko Festival is back for its sophomore edition, inviting music lovers to a three-day celebration of rebetiko and Greek musical tradition in the vibrant district of Gazi.
From October 10 to 12, 2025, the festival will bring together concerts, talks, music presentations, workshops, dance and music lessons, and exhibitions, all showcasing the richness and enduring spirit of this unique Greek music style.
The event welcomes everyone: the aficionados, those who remember songs from their grandmothers’ playlists, newcomers discovering rebetiko on TikTok, vinyl hunters scouring record stores, and online enthusiasts alike.
Organized by a passionate team deeply rooted in the music, the festival’s founders are Tasos Kaklamanis, Nikos Protopapas, Giannis Tsiantis, Katerina Tsiridou, and Sotiris Papatragiannis.
The first three also co-founded the production company behind the festival, GRECOUS – Greek Music Archive, established in 2021 to preserve, study, and promote Greece’s musical heritage as a living, evolving tradition.
A portion of the festival’s proceeds will support SOS Children’s Villages and the Panhellenic Musicians’ Solidarity Fund, while free entry is guaranteed for socially vulnerable groups, including the unemployed, large families, people with disabilities, seniors over 75, and children under 15.
The 2nd Athens Rebetiko Festival promises to be a soulful homage to Greece’s musical heartbeat—a space where tradition meets today, and everyone can join the dance.
