Ascension Community Hosts Its 71st Annual Greek Festival in Fairview, NJ


FAIRVIEW, NJ – The 71st Annual Greek Festival of the community of the Ascension in Fairview is being held successfully from June 12-15.

Visitors enjoy traditional Greek food and sweets, shop at the outdoor markets, and have fun with Greek music and dancing.

Presiding priest of the community Fr. Christos Pappas spoke to The National Herald, expressing everyone’s joy for the organization of the festival, the purpose of which is the presentation and promotion of Greek traditions, customs and traditions, music, cuisine and hospitality.

“Our parish festival is rightly considered one of the most successful in New Jersey,” Fr. Pappas said. “The visitors were eagerly awaiting its start so that they could all get together again to have a great time. With the good weather and the hospitality of the volunteers as allies, we hope that we will have a great success.”

“We thank The National Herald for always supporting and promoting our school and church,” Fr. Pappas said. “I wish everyone a nice and relaxing summer and look forward to seeing everyone next year with good health.”

Parish Council President and festival manager Pantelis (Peter) Frangiskou warmly thanked the dozens of volunteers of all ages and from all community organizations (Parish Council, Philoptochos, Parents’ Association, GOYA, AHEPA) who responded so willingly to the call of the organizing committee, the wider area of ​​Fairview with all the residents of all nationalities who support the festival and stated that the proceeds will be given to the needs of the church and all its programs.

Philoptochos Society Vice President Vicky Diamantopoulos spoke about the efforts of the members of the association for the success of the festival, preparing the sweets, donuts, traditional foods, serving guests, cleaning, and helping wherever they are needed.

Greek School Board President Stelios Socratous said that parents and students help in the organization and operation of the festival, especially with the orders and the serving.

“We help for the progress of our church because in this way we also help for the prosperity of our school with better programs, equipment and more,” he said.
