Cyprus have released their Eurovision 2026 song, with Antigoni set to sing Jalla in Vienna, Austria.
Antigoni was internally selected as the artist for Cyprus back in November 2025. She was also the first artist announced for Eurovision 2026.
The song was revealed on the main evening news on RIK 1 and then released on Spotify and YouTube straight after.
The song Jalla translates to “more” in the Cypriot-Greek dialect. The music video was filmed at several different location of Cypriot towns and villages.
About Antigoni
Antigoni, whose last name is Buxton, was born and raised in North London, and has Greek Cypriot roots.
In 2022 she competed on the eighth season of the British version of Love Island. However she was one of the first contestants “dumped” from the program.
Antigoni has released many hit songs, they include You Can Have Him, Sleeping Alone and Habibi.
She often showcases her Cypriot heritage by incorporating traditional Cypriot instrumentation through her music, mixing it with more contemporary genres.
Cyprus at Eurovision
Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1981 with Island performing Μόνικα’ finishing in 6th place.
Their best result was in 2018, with Eleni Foureira who performed her banger Fuego which came in in the runner-up spot.
Over the last few years Australian born artists have represented Cyprus and qualified for the Grand Final, with Andrew Lambrou finishing 12th in 2023 with Break a Broken Heart and Silia Kapsis finished in 15th place in 2024 with Liar.
Last year they were represented by Cypriot native Theo Evan. He sung Shh in Basel where he just missed out on the Grand Final finishing in 11th place in the first semi-final.
Cyprus will be performing in the second half of the second semi-final at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, Austria on 14 May 2026.
