“Ancient Greek Olympics: A Religious Celebration”

the ancient Olympic Games in Greece were actually a religious festival in honor of Zeus, and they were held every four years as part of a larger religious festival honoring the gods. The games were also considered a way to promote unity and peace among the various city-states of Greece, as participants and spectators came from all over the country to take part in the festivities.
