Children in Year 5 and 6 at Cockburn Ingram Road Academy kick-started their half-term with an immersive day as Ancient Greeks.
Throughout the day, children had opportunities to sample Greek culture by making a simple Greek dish. They also applied their Geography knowledge to understand where Greece is in the world and even got to experience life in Ancient Greek times through a Virtual Reality workshop, which took them back in time and transported them to an Ancient Greek village.
Mr Ellard, Year 5 teacher, explained the importance of the day:
“The children really enjoyed the ancient Greek themed day. We explored the importance of the ancient Greek legacy and their contributions to the modern world, such as philosophy, democracy and architecture.”
The children will continue to embed what they learned on this day through their teaching across the curriculum and are eager to find out more.
