Athens-based band Glitter Grotesque will present their new themed music show, Let’s Swing in New Orleans, at the Orient Express music carriage of the Train Theatre to Rouf, offering audiences a journey through the history of jazz and swing. Following sold-out performances in previous seasons, the band will perform every Sunday from November 8, 2026, through April 25, 2027.

The show traces the evolution of New Orleans jazz, from its early roots to the vibrant swing era, through a mix of Dixieland, gospel, rhythm and blues, Charleston, jive and swing.

Audiences will be transported from the atmospheric streets of Storyville, New Orleans’ historic entertainment district, to America’s glamorous dance halls. The performance also explores the musical traditions associated with voodoo rituals, New Orleans jazz funerals and the Second Line parades led by brass bands, before moving into the big band era, the ballrooms and the Lindy Hop dance craze of the 1930s and 1940s.

The three-member band features Ioanna Noir Zacharopoulou on vocals, George Mikros on piano and Christos “Voodoo” Koutsoyannis on drums. Koutsoyannis, who has also collaborated with British band The Tiger Lillies, has performed in New Orleans alongside award-winning musician Meschiya Lake and members of the bands Tuba Skinny and Smoking Time Jazz Club.

Through music, theatricality and high-energy performances, Glitter Grotesque aim to bring the spirit of an earlier musical era to life, celebrating the sounds and rhythms that helped shape modern music.

The band is dedicating this season’s production to the memory of their late friend and collaborator, George Lagogiannis.

The performances will take place at the Orient Express music carriage, part of the Train Theatre to Rouf, a railway-themed cultural venue in Athens.
