One of the quintessential experiences in college, for those who can afford is, is the opportunity to study abroad for a semester and learn a new culture, new language, new way of living. That opportunity is simply not available for college athletes. If football players tried to go in the fall semester, well, they’d miss every single football game. If they tried to go in the spring, they probably wouldn’t make the fall roster as they’d miss all of winter workouts and spring camp. There’s just no way for them to go in the traditional sense.
