Message of PAME to the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL)
Dear comrades,
PAME, on behalf of the trade unions of Greece, extends warm militant greetings to the working class of Vietnam and to the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL).
Your Congress is taking place at a particularly complex and dangerous time in international developments. Workers in Greece, in the EU, and throughout the world are faced with intensified exploitation, rising prices, and attacks on wages, working time, collective agreements, and trade union rights. Governments and capital are trying to place on the shoulders of the peoples the consequences of sharpened imperialist rivalries, as well as the cost of war preparations and the war economy.
The rivalries between powerful capitalist states and alliances, such as those between the EU and Russia, as well as between the USA and China, over markets, transport routes for energy and commodities, raw materials, and spheres of influence, are creating new and serious dangers for the peoples.
The flames of imperialist war are spreading dangerously. The peoples of the Middle East, Iran, and Lebanon are victims of the war massacre of the USA and Israel. In Palestine, the people continue to pay a heavy price in blood, with the massacre in Gaza by the murderous state of Israel and the continued occupation.
Socialist Cuba has for decades faced the criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by US imperialism, with the support of the EU. Despite the difficulties, threats, and blackmail of the US government, the Cuban people continue to defend, with determination, their social achievements and their right to determine their own future.
Under these conditions, internationalist solidarity is a valuable weapon in the hands of the working class. It is a force for building a wall of resistance against the policy of profit, which sacrifices the needs of the people for the interests of the monopolies; against wars, imperialist interventions, oppression, and exploitation.
PAME firmly expresses its solidarity with all peoples struggling against imperialist aggression. We support the right of every people to live freely and sovereignly in their own homeland, without local or foreign oppressors and exploiters.
Especially today, it is of great importance to strengthen the bonds between trade unions that struggle with a class-oriented direction, also through the ranks of the World Federation of Trade Unions. Common action and the coordination of struggles must be strengthened, so that the fight for the overthrow of capitalist barbarity may grow stronger, for a society without the exploitation of man by man.
With these thoughts, we wish every success to the work of your 14th National Congress. We are confident that your decisions will contribute to the further strengthening of the workers’ movement of Vietnam and to the development of internationalist solidarity with workers all over the world.
PAME will continue to support friendship, cooperation, and common struggle with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, through the ranks of the World Federation of Trade Unions, so that the voice and strength of the working class may grow stronger internationally, for a world without poverty, wars, and exploitation.
