A popular Grand Rapids festival that people throughout West Michigan look forward to every summer has quietly announced that the event won’t be happening in 2026.

Grand Rapids’ Yassou! Festival Canceled For 2026
Yassou! Greek Cultural Festival currently has a message on its website stating,
Yassou is taking a much needed break! We will be taking 2026 off, but already looking forward to eating, dancing, and being Greek with our community in 2027!
The site also states at the top that the festival will be “Returning Summer 2027!”
What is the Yassou! Greek Cultural Festival Like?
West Michiganders who have attended the festival in the past have raved about the entertainment and, of course, the food.

Dishes like souvlaki, lamb shanks, gyro, moussaka, Kotopoulo lemonato, spanakopita, Greek salad, loukoumades, melomakarona, karithopita (ouzo cake), baklava, and more were sold during the two-day festival that took place every year in mid-to-late August.

The festival also featured live Greek music, plus fantastic dance performances from Holy Trinity’s youth dancers wearing traditional Grecian dress.
Another fan-favorite (for the over-21 fans, anyway) was what the folks at Yassou! called the Taverna. The Taverna offered up wines and beers from both Greece and Michigan, ouzo, and sangria. It was also where you could purchase a “Frouzo”, which was invented as part of the festival. The Frouzo is described as,
Holy Trinity’s very own special libation, concocted and served only one time per year! This delicious frozen specialty features the Greek spirit, ouzo, mixed with a number of other sweet and tart ingredients, then frozen! An absolute must-try!
It’s unclear what led to the decision not to hold the festival in 2026, but here’s to hoping that it makes a triumphant return in 2027!
