A Greek basketball club accused the leadership of the country’s basketball federation Thursday of conflicts of interest and improper conduct, escalating a dispute that is now under review by the federation’s ethics committee.
Maroussi Basketball Club said it had submitted a complaint to the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK), presenting material it claims includes private messages between federation president Evangelos Liolios and a former coach. The club argued the material raises questions over institutional ethics and competitive fairness.
Club officials also alleged broader concerns about governance and refereeing transparency. The federation has not independently confirmed the claims, and Liolios has rejected the accusations, describing them as an attempt to undermine Greek basketball.
The ethics committee is expected to examine the complaint.
