Somewhere between a wooden block, a studded strap, and a heel you definitely notice, the clog has taken on new forms. Once a Dutch milkmaid staple, the clog has been evolving for years, and now it’s being adopted by fashion’s most formidable women. These are confidence-heavy (and literally heavy) shoes that make every outfit feel fierce. There’s no question that Lizzie McGuire would have worn these new styles in her thirties.
Celebrities have already cemented the platform comeback, with Rihanna and Kylie Jenner both spotted wearing The Attico’s Ornella 140 leather pumps – a crass take on a clog so let’s call them clog-adjacent. And on Clog-Tok, too, posts about the clompers are soaring, proving that there’s a real appetite for them.
Naturally, the spring/summer ’26 runways already foretold this as Simone Rocha offered a softer entry point with flat beaded clogs, perfect for those who want a nod to the trend without risking sprained ankles. Meanwhile, at Bottega Veneta, Louise Trotter created some of the season’s most talked about shoes by way of colourful rubber clogs, which, now that they’ve hit the stores, also come in the brand’s signature woven leather. And then there’s fashion’s North star, Phoebe Philo, whose sexy towering take (my personal favourite) on the sonic footwear has already sold out.
The high street and heritage brands aren’t sleeping on them either. Orthopaedic shoe maker Scholl (and former Balenciaga collaborator), as well as Ancient Greek Sandals offer heeled cork clogs and wooden flats at more democratic price points.
The beauty of this trend is that it works on multiple levels (no pun intended), depending on the mood you’re going for. In the day, it’s perhaps wise to remain close to the ground. Headed out for a girls’ night out? Mini skirts are your secret weapon and heeled clogs will show off your legs. It’s the kind of shoe that can toggle between cool street style and hot girl without skipping a beat, part Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich, part fashion editor hitting the Paris pavements. It’s slightly rebellious and rarely the most comfortable choice, but perfect for anyone who wants their shoes to make some noise. Literally.
