Now, Kapodistrias (The Governor), already one of the most successful Greek films of all time, is heading to movie theaters across the United States for a special one-night-only screening on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, through international distributor Tanweer and Fathom Entertainment.
The film is the fifth highest-grossing Greek film of all time, following its strong run in Greece after its theatrical release in December 2025.
Directed and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Yannis Smaragdis, the sweeping historical drama tells the story of Ioannis Kapodistrias, the visionary statesman and diplomat who became the first Governor of Greece after independence and helped lay the foundations of the modern Greek state.
