A Greek adventure with the Cape Gazette

This past October, John and Christine Lodge of Nassau Grove in Lewes traveled to Greece and its islands on a 10‑day land and sea excursion. After spending two days in Athens, they visited the islands of Crete, Santorini and Mykonos. They also stopped in Kavala, home to the ancient ruins of Philippi. Philippi later became a strategic Roman military outpost and played a pivotal role in Macedonian, Roman and early Christian history. The Apostle Paul preached Christianity there, and in 42 B.C., the forces of Mark Antony and Octavian defeated Brutus and Cassius during the Roman civil wars. As always, the Cape Gazette accompanied John and Christine on their travels.
