Their names are Atropos (the Inflexible), Clotho (the spinner) and Lachesis (the Alloter). Older myths identified them as the daughters of Nyx (goddess of the night), but in newer ones, they were more often depicted as the offspring of Themis (an ancient Greek Titaness and “The Lady of Good Counsel”) and Zeus (the Greek God of Sky and Lightning).
Although they worked as a group, each of them had a different task that corresponded to the names and roles they had. Clotho was responsible for spinning the thread of life, Lachesis was the one who measured the thread’s given length, and Atropos’ job was to cut the thread off when the time came. They also represent and symbolise different passages of time—Atropos being the past, Clotho the present, and Lachesis as the future.

They are often described to be either beautiful women, or old and ugly hags, depending on the medium. Visual arts often opt to beautify them, while literature uses the ugly and old imagery.

But the hands of Death could not defeat him, the Sisters of fate could not control him. And on this day, the man the legend Kratos will have his revenge 😂😅
Also in norse mythology their equivalent are the norns which are also 3
"The Death could not defeat me, the Sisters of Fate could not hold me"

The Moires – Goddesses of Destiny :
Atropos – Goddess of Future
Laquesis – Goddess of Present
Cloto – Goddess of Past
Nope the fates were the daughters of chronos and ananke
So if I rob a bank, commit genocide, start ww3 and 4 and destroy the universe somehow I can just blame it all to the fates? Nice.
THE SISTERS OF FATE COULD NOT HOLD ME, AND YOU WILL NOT SEE THE END OF THIS DAY!!!! – Kratos, Gow 3
Kratos straight slaughtered the three!
Me wondering why there are trenches
👍👍👍👍👍👍🇵🇭
In modern Hellenic it’s: Οι Μοίρες
Pronounced as “i míres”
In ancient Hellenic it’s: αἱ Μοῖραι
Pronounced as “e míre”
It’s not “morài”
In ancient Hellenic mythology there were multiple origins for every God and Goddess.
Even though there are two versions of their origin, the Fates were widely considered as the daughters of Nyx. There were primordial deities and they didn’t get orders from the Olympian Gods.
