Fraternities and Sororities are encouraged to show up to Acker Gym to support the basketball teams and fellow classmates while repping their Greek letters. This Thursday, Greek Night marks the first of multiple special sporting events for the Wildcats in the 2026 spring semester.
The ’Cats face off against the San Francisco State Gators in their first home game back after nearly two weeks on the road. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
Along with the invitation to Greek Organizations, President Steve Perez will be in attendance, shooting a T-shirt cannon into the crowd during intermissions of the men’s game.
The university launched the idea to advertise and market incentivised games in an effort to bring more school spirit to Chico State.
“I understand that students are busy, asking them to be in attendance at every event or sporting event is not possible,” said Kendall Ross, Senior Director for Student Life & Leadership and Recreational Sports. “The hope is we get a positive experience for the students and fans that attend, as well as our student-athletes, as they can see the support from our campus and community.”
Ideally, for this game, the ’Cats goal is to see an increase in attendance and overall excitement from students and fans. The ’Cats will need the support as they make a push to get back into the win column after a tough 10-point loss to UC Merced.
Senior guard Chris Holley had 16 points and six assists versus UC Merced and is looking to help his team bounce back.
Along with Greek Night, the university plans to hold Champions in Unity Night on February 26 vs. Cal State San Marcos in Acker Gym. Students are welcome to join Chico State Athletics, the Black Resource Center and the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center for a night of celebration.
The university also plans to have a Wildcat FANatics event on April 24 for the ’Cats Baseball team as part of Wildcat Spirit Week. More information on future events can be found on the Chico State Website and CatsConnect.
