Former Ipswich Town fans’ favourite Shefki Kuqi has departed his coaching role at PAE Chania in Greece after just three months.

The Kosovo-born former Finnish international was a cult hero during his spell in Suffolk, forming a potent strike partnership with Darren Bent which fired the Blues into the play-offs in successive seasons in the mid 2000’s.

Kuqi later returned for a further stint on loan at the end of 2007/08. In total, he netted 32 goals in 92 games during his spell at Portman Road.

He previously applied for the Blues’ job after Mick McCarthy’s exit in 2018 and then when Paul Cook was sacked in December 2021.
