Heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and Saharan dust are expected across Greece on Thursday, the National Meteorological Service (EMY) warned.
Rain and storms will start early in western and northern Greece and spread across most of the country during the day.
By evening, rainfall is expected to continue mainly in Thrace, the Eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese.
Some storms may be severe, with hail possible in the Ionian Islands, western mainland, Peloponnese and parts of the Aegean.
In Athens and the surrounding Attica region, rain will be intermittent, with thunderstorms most likely in the afternoon.
Strong southerly winds, locally reaching gale force in the Aegean, may cause rough seas. Dust from the Sahara could mix with rain, creating “muddy” showers. Authorities warned of hazardous travel and potential disruptions to outdoor activities.
Meanwhile, ferry services remain suspended on Tuesday on the islands of Zakynthos and Kefalonia due to adverse conditions in the Ionian Sea. Passengers are advised to contact local port authorities or travel agencies for updates.
