HAWXX are not fucking around with their latest single and music video for ‘Macho Bullshit.‘ The London based progressive punk metallers are flexing their queer feminist rage with a chorus that screams “FUCK YOUR MACHO BULLSHIT FOREVER”, a cathartic release for women and the queer community who have had enough of patriarchal bullshit. ‘Macho Bullshit’ is a battle cry that invokes the generational experience of our banshee sisters, witchy cousins, Valkyrie ancestors, and formidably fierce mothers alike, refusing to stay quiet.

“Bring your daughters to the altar, teach her how to devour.”
On the new single, HAWXX comment:
“We’ve always believed mosh pits are better when they are full of queer feminist rage, and ‘Macho Bullshit’ is for exactly that purpose. It’s our liberation song, about building your own world outside of patriarchal structures. It’s about tapping into your own feral hunger and seeing where your animal instincts lead you. Speaking your mind. Aspire to become the unhinged, chaotic-as-fuck-crone with nothing to apologise for. When we play this song live, we counteract macho mosh pit flailing fist energy with a “wall of friendship” instead of a wall of death. The crowd parts and when the beat drops, instead of crashing into each other, everyone gives each other multiple high fives. Open up the pit. Fuck Macho Bullshit Forever!”

In a world where musicians, artists, and creatives are increasingly finding their platforms and livelihoods at risk of being stripped away from them, HAWXX‘s fearlessness only fuels their mission to give a voice to the voiceless in the face of adversity. ‘Macho Bullshit’ closely follows the release of the politically-charged ‘Resistance Is Justified’, with it’s commanding chants of “free, free, Palestine!”, the track documents the arrest and detainment of The Filton 24, including Anna’s close friend Jordan.
Imprisoned for one year without trial for allegedly destroying weapons in the Elbit Factory that were due to be sent to Israel, “this song condemns the UK Government’s decision to call them a terrorist organisation and arresting anyone to be seen publicly supporting them, as well as condemning the silencing of our human right to protest injustice. I have played Jordan the song over the phone while he is in his cell.”
What sets HAWXX apart from their peers is that they’re proactive about their beliefs, which saw Anna perform ‘Resistance Is Justified’ outside the courthouse in amongst other protesters fighting, marching, and showing support for Palestine.
This song is a tapestry of collaborations from Ahmed Muin Abu Amsha, (a talented music teacher in Gaza whose singing with children over drones circling above have gone viral on social media), members of the Greek Flotilla mission to Gaza (including Anna’s cousin Ploutarxos), Logan Grendel, Petrol Girls, Jasmine 4.t., members of Choir Noir, Soren Bryce, Millie Manders, Orchestrated Discontent, Ruby Wednesday and more artists in support of the cause. There is also a sample of Jordan’s sister Brogan, giving a speech in the song. Clarinet by Alice Mary Jelaska, accordion by Bel Comeau.
HAWXX make songs of protest, feminist resistance, grief, ecological catastrophe and queer love, they write songs to keep the soul alive in a dying world, to carve a way through the terrifying times we are in. Due in Spring of 2026, their upcoming second full-length album weaves alternative metal, punk, and traditional Greek music from Anna’s heritage.
The band’s debut full-length album, “Earth, Spit, Blood And Bones”, spawned the singles ‘Death Makes Sisters Of Us All‘ (a track tackling the heartbreakingly ever-relevant topic of global femicide), ‘Embrace The Ugly‘ (a call to arms in finding beauty in disobedience of everything that’s expected of you), ‘Soulbreaking Machines‘ (with lyrics forcing us to question the blind and mislead lives we lead at the direction of the powerful and greedy), and lead single ‘The Worst Thing‘. The debut record was heralded by Metal Hammer as “the righteous racket heavy music needs right now” and nominated for their Album Of The Year, whilst Kerrang! called them “the peak of rock n’ roll, Hawxx play like they want to start a revolution’, and Distorted Sound labelled them “uncompromising, outspoken and poised to take on the world.”
HAWXX have toured up and down the country as support to Alter Bridge’s Mark Tremonti on his solo run in 2022, brought audiences to their knees with their formidable performances on the New Blood stage at Bloodstock Festival in 2021 and the Dogtooth stage at Download Festival in 2023, and brought their rage and rebellion to every corner of the UK on their headline tours.
