Giannis Antetokounmpo #34 of the Milwaukee Bucks congratulates Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors after the Warriors beat the Bucks at Chase Center on January 07, 2026 in San Francisco, California.
Phoenix Suns wing Dillon Brooks predicts it could be trouble for the NBA if a pair of two-time MVPs, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Stephen Curry, became teammates on the Golden State Warriors.
Brooks addressed the Giannis to Warriors trade rumors during his appearance on N3on’s live stream on Saturday.
N3on: Where do you think Giannis is going to go, bro?
Brooks: I heard the Warriors, bro.
N3on: I’m not trying to see Giannis and Steph Curry on the same team, man.
Brooks: That would be so crazy to get a screen-and-roll with them. You’re running off to, like, Steph to try to get a three, then there’s Giannis for a dunk. Like, just imagine having Giannis there instead of Draymond, working that two-man game.”
N3on: It would be over.
Brooks: It would be crazy.
Brooks’ prediction comes at a time when the Warriors have reportedly ascended to pole position in the Giannis trade bidding war ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.
Warriors Trade Target: Antetokounmpo
Not everyone shares Brooks’ views about the Antetokounmpo-Curry pairing. Retired big man DeMarcus Cousins believes the “Greek Freak” will struggle to fit in with Steve Kerr’s system that relies on off-ball screens and misdirections more than a traditional pick-and-roll and ISO offense Antetokounmpo is accustomed to.
“Is [Steve Kerr] even the right guy to coach a talent like Giannis?” Cousins asked on FanDuel TV’s “Run it Back” amid the strong Giannis to Warriors chatter.
“This isn’t a guy who has shown, throughout his history, to really tweak his system. You have to really come in ad fit the system.”
“I don’t necessarily know if Giannis is the perfect fit for that system,” added the 4-time All-Star, who played for the Kerr-coached Warriors in the 2018-19 season.
Giannis to Warriors Rumors
Some analysts have pushed back against Cousins’ take, arguing that Kerr will tweak his system to incorporate two-man actions for Giannis and Curry, two players who command so much attention from defenses. Curry’s ability to thrive off the ball also bodes well for Antetokounmpo to remain his aggressive self on the open court.
The Warriors are reportedly confident that landing Antetokounmpo would reopen Curry’s championship window, even as the sharpshooter turns 38 next month. So much so that they’re willing to part with all their future draft assets and every non-Curry player in a potential Giannis trade, having discussed several frameworks with the Bucks. One of those scenarios, per insider Marc Stein, would see the Warriors cut ties with Draymond, their longtime defensive anchor.
“Another Antetokounmpo development that has emerged over the past 24 hours: We’ve heard further strong indications that the Warriors’ pursuit of Antetokounmpo is unlikely to involve Jimmy Butler’s contract after Butler sustained a season-ending knee tear on Jan. 19,” Stein wrote in his Saturday Substack.
“So what does that mean for lifelong Warrior Draymond Green? It has long been assumed that a credible Golden State offer would have to include Green or Butler for salary-matching purposes.”
A Draymond Green-headlined Warriors trade package for Antetokounmpo is expected to include Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, the Warriors’ 2026, 2028, 2030 and 2032 first-round picks and a 2031 first-round pick swap.
Amid the rumors, Green candidly addressed the idea of being shipped off to another team before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.
“I’ve been here for 14 years,” Green said on Friday night. “I have no reason to sit and worry about leaving. But if I’m traded, that’s part of the business. I ain’t losing no sleep though. I slept great last night.”
