The Estia Greek Festival will return to Hobart, Australia, with a two-week program celebrating Greek food culture and community, organizers said.
Presented by Giameos Constructions and Developments, the festival will run from Saturday to 14 February and will include public events ranging from film and lectures to shared meals and a street festival in North Hobart.
Festival Director Alanah Duggan said the event reflects the collective effort behind it. “Estia is one of those events where you feel the work of many hands. It’s built by volunteers families and community members who care deeply about sharing their culture,” Duggan said.
The festival is delivered by the Greek Community of Tasmania and is planned and run by community members and volunteers. President of the Greek Community of Tasmania Manoli Kalimnios said the festival expresses the values of the local community. “Estia has become a fixture on our calendar because it reflects who we are as a community,” Kalimnios said.
The centerpiece of the program is the Estia Greek Street Festival, which will take place at the Greek Community of Tasmania precinct in North Hobart on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The street festival will feature live music traditional dance performances and Greek food.
