The Montenegrin women’s volleyball team achieved victory at the start of the CEV zonal qualification tournament for the European Championship for players under 18.
Montenegrin volleyball players defeated Greece 3:2 (26:28, 20:25, 25:21, 25:21, 15:12) in the first round of the tournament in Sofia today.
Young Montenegrin volleyball players once again showed immense talent and, above all, faith in themselves.
They were losing 2:0 in sets, but after a great fight, they managed to come back and, after a turnaround, achieve victory.
Every set of the match at the Hristo Botev Sports Hall was even, and the first set could easily have gone to the Montenegrin team.
For most of the game, the Montenegrin volleyball team had the lead, several times by five points, and in the end they had two set points, but the Greek team managed to take the lead on Papatanasio’s serve 28:26.
Greece gained momentum and stormed into the second set, leading the entire time and winning 25:20.
Montenegro opened the third set well, holding the strings of the game in their hands until the 20th point, when Greece managed to turn the tables, but only briefly.
With a great roll by Sofija Duletić, the Montenegrin team managed to take a step towards the fourth set, turning it around at 18:15 and finishing the job in style, 25:21.
In the same way, Montenegro equalized, again repelling the attacks of their rival who was chasing victory, led by the trio Ćorović-Koprivica-Čolaković, secured two points, and after 25:21, they entered the fifth set with a psychological advantage.
In it, she led Gala on serve with a mistake, 4:3, and played brilliantly from then on.
The service was functioning properly and a major turnaround occurred.
As many as five volleyball players had double-digit performance, with Anastasija Koprivica and Elena Čolaković each scoring 17 points, Jelena Ćorović scored 15, Sofija Duletić 13, and Andrea Glavanović scored ten.
For Greece, Razakia Triantopoulou were the most efficient with 16 points each.
Montenegro will play their next match against the host team, Bulgaria, tomorrow at 18:30 PM.
The group stage competition will conclude with a match against Kosovo on Thursday at 16:30 p.m.
