BALTIMORE, MD – Dr. Spyros Koliavasilis, distinguished vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, passionate advocate for traditional Greek music, and recipient of the 2025 Maryland Heritage Award, shared an update with The National Herald on his music and upcoming concerts.
Born in the Attica region of Greece, Dr. Koliavasilis has been a resident of Maryland for 15 years during which he has been promoting, performing, and teaching traditional Greek music and instruments.
On Saturday, January 24, ’World Music Medley’ introduces something new from Koliavasilis – a thoughtfully curated repertoire of world music shaped by his Greek origin, his musical life in Europe, and the influences he has absorbed in the United States. Performing on oud and other fretless instruments and with his taximia (improvisations) and velvety vocals, combined with jazz elements from jazz guitarist Gary Prince, Koliavasilis will present an unforgettable Passport Music Festival concert in Falls Church, VA, at Creative Cauldron Stage.
All seats are good seats at Creative Cauldron Stage, a warm, intimate venue for a concert – perfect for a date night, a night out with friends, or a family outing. Koliavasilis also shared a ‘Save the Date’ for Sunday, February 15, when he will perform at the Greek Taverna Night at The Living Room, Black Ankle Vineyards in Mount Airy, Maryland. Audience members will feel like they are in Greece in this beautiful Mediterranean-inspired listening room.
