An evening of Greek music, taverna-style, recreating the intimate vibe of the tavernas of Greece at Tranzac in the Annex. This special night brings together a Greek music trio featuring Dimitra Kahrimanidis on voice and laouto, Ariane Morin on saxophone & Naghmeh Farahmand on percussions.
Dimitra Kahrimanidis is a singer, ethnomusicologist, and recent participant on The Voice Greece. Known for her versatility and strong roots in traditional Greek repertoire, Dimitra is a familiar presence within Greek communities across the GTA.
On saxophone, Ariane Morin draws on her ongoing research and studies in Greek and Turkish music in Thessaloniki and Istanbul, alongside a strong background in Balkan music.
Naghmeh Farahmand is is an Iranian percussionist from a musical family, trained in Persian classical traditions. Based in Toronto, she is an active performer and teacher, active across a wide range of ensembles and collaborations.
The repertoire draws from Northern Greece, Thrace, Asia Minor, and beyond — music meant for folk dancing, celebrations, and also for quieter moments of song shared around the table.
