On my last day in Greece, I try one of the best restaurants in Athens that I ate at. This was not a famous or touristy spot at all, it was just a local Greek souvlaki place, or Greek skewers if you’re not familiar. It was a place frequented entirely by locals, specifically old men smoking cigarettes. At this place, I had authentic souvlaki in Greece and it was one of the best BBQ restaurants I’ve ever had!
The most traditional Greek Souvlaki is pork souvlaki, so I of course ordered one of those. We also got chicken souvlaki and sheep souvlaki, which may have been closer to lamb souvlaki is sheep I would imagine is less tender. It was all very good, and definitely among the best restaurants in Greece that I had been to during my trip. And also authentic Greek salad? Officially one of my favorite things to eat now. Authentic Greek feta is one of the most delicious, creamy, and tangy things I’ve ever eaten!

Δεν σου έδειξε κανείς ότι την σαλάτα την τρώμε με πιρούνι?το κουτάλι το έχουμε για να σερβίρουμε στο πιάτο μας!!
Bruh when UA eats something he likes he makes a face like he's getting top from a CERTIFIED throat goat
Greek American living in Greece. If you live in New York, there’s plenty of Greek shops where you can get feta straight from the barrel. Astoria is full of Greek stores. Happy you enjoyed our cuisine. ❤🇬🇷
No such thing as Greek salad. This is just called a Shopska salad in Europe, especially the Balkans & rebranded Greek like the rest of their cuisine. The skewers are middle Eastern also. Don't get me started on Greek coffee aka rebranded Turkish coffee.
-Hey Aleko malaka, what's pita bread in English, I need to translate the menu.
-I don't know.
-Well look it up on the google marafeti.
-It says pitas are pies.
-Done!
Bro you should get a beer with that…..
You can get a big slab of feta in the U.S that is served in a container in brine.
Why can't Tina not eat pork I've heard you mention that a few times
UA really needs to visit ethnic markets when he returns to the States.
Most decent size cities in the US have ethnic grocery stores. My city is 150k in the Midwest and I can get Greek, French, Bulgarian and domestic at the deli case. Also in the refrigerated section, more commercial but still imported. It's easy to get this stuff now….when I was a kid in the 70s we had to drive 4 hrs to Chicago just to get olives!
The best thing you can get in greece as far as grilled meat goes is grilled lamp chops. You need to find a place that does them well but good lamp chops are peak. Grilled octopus is also great in greece
Love the videos but it’s crazy to me that you say you can’t find authentic Greek food In ny. Go to Astoria bro
There's a little Greek restaurant I've frequented in City Island that does a very good Pork & Chicken Souvlaki
Thank you UA and Tina for the trip to Greece. Great vid.
Love your videos. I think tomatoes are probably one of the most vulnerable product as far as agri- business is concerned. That’s why there’s such a huge variation in flavour between tomatoes particularly. If you can find tomatoes that are grown locally and in season they probably won’t even taste like any tomato you bought at the supermarket.
The food in Greece is amazing.
Look how juicy and red the tomatoes look did you get a name
That’s one hell of a well fed stray cat there!?😅❤
Hey UA, since you’re from around here, please do a review of Taverna Kyklades in Astoria (on Ditmars blvd). If you’ve already done it, please forgive my ignorance; haven’t watched all of your videos although I’ve watched quite a few. Just skip the pork shish kebab since it seemed dry and “meh” to me (nothing to write home about). The rest of it was amazing, at least when we went.
The greens are off the charts in Greece and Mediterranean in general, up north where I live tomatoes and cucumber are more "watery", not bad, but watching this video made my crave for real authentic Greek Salad.. it's been a long since was in Greece last time.. food in that part of the world is great! <3
Thats a corn pita…so yes, it would taste like corn!
I think you would get a lot more followers if Tina would show up once in awhile.
The name of the place is actually funny because it's like how a Greek would imagine it should be called in French. It sells kalamakia (καλαμάκια), the meat on a stick, so it should be called Kalamakeri (Καλαμακερί) 😂. Also the owner must be from Crete since it has these small pies on the menu that are from there and mizithra from Rethymno, a local soft cheese from Crete
Eating salad with a spoon? Interesting 😅
