Greece is ranked 13th under FIBA’s new men’s national team ranking system, which took effect on Monday. The system emphasizes recent competitive performance, rewarding victories over strong opponents and the importance of matches.
Meanwhile, amongst the twelve players aged 18 to 21 competing in the upcoming national team windows for the 2027 Basketball World Cup qualifiers in Qatar, is Panathinaikos forward Alexander Samodurov.
The 20-year-old Samodurov had an impressive 2025 with the Greek national team. He earned a spot on the All-Star Five at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket and later joined Greece’s rotation at the FIBA EuroBasket, averaging 4.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in seven games.
