Greek Peak Begins Snowmaking Efforts 10 Days Earlier in Preparation For 2025/2026 Season – X101 Always Classic

The first snowfall and cold weather may not be great news for everyone, but for Greek Peak Mountain Resort in Virgil, it is nothing but great news. Snowmaking on the mountain has officially begun for the 2025/2026 season. Snowmaking began on Monday night, Greek Peak says, 10 days earlier than last year.

Snowmaking continued into Tuesday on Karyatis Way, Meadow, Platonic, Lower Platonic, Elysian Fields, Stoic, Odyssey and the tubing hill.

An opening date has yet to be determined by Greek Peak. However, with snowmaking beginning earlier, an earlier opening date is possible. Last year’s ski season lasted 108 days thanks in part to Greek Peak’s major investments in infrastructure and snowmaking equipment.

“The 2025-26 season marks the beginning of a new four-year, $2 million-plus investment plan into the mountain, and I believe our guests will be able to really see the results of our efforts to date out on the slopes this season,” said President of Greek Peak Mountain Resort, Wes Kryger.

New on the mountain for this year’s season include a new pump in the main pumphouse. Greek Peak says this increases the capacity by 33% which will allow more water to key parts of the new snowmaking infrastructure and increase overall coverage on the mountain. Greek Peak also added 12 new high efficiency HKD Snowguns, new water & air lines on Middle Pollux, and $150,000 in new rental gear for visitors.

“Investments like these are significant and they’re part of what has made Greek Peak a regional skiing destination for so many years,” said Kryger. “Our new four-year plan builds on the success of our recently completed 5-year plan, and our focus continues to be on the mountain and the overall guest experience.”
