Panagiotis Karaiskos was the first Greek runner to cross the finish line at the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro) in the 42nd Athens Authentic Marathon on Sunday, with a time of 2:20:08.
The result earned Karaiskos his second national championship title, contested within the Athens Authentic Marathon.
Kostas Stamoulis followed in second place among Greek runners, finishing the race in 2:23:23.
“It’s my second win, in the third year I’ve participated. Last year it didn’t work out, but this year it did, so I’m very happy,” he said.
