Greece: Keren Peles’ first statement after submitting her entry to ERT for the National Final – Eurovision News | Music

Renowned Israeli songwriter Keren Peles, following the revelation that she has submitted a song to ERT together with Poseidonas Giannopoulos for Greece’s national final and the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, has made her first public statement.

In her post on social media, Keren Peles referred to her collaboration with Xannova Xan, as well as to the symbolic meaning of this initiative, emphasizing the importance of artistic collaboration beyond political and social barriers.

Her full statement reads as follows:

“In recent days, I’ve been asked about my participation in creating a song that was submitted to the committee for selecting songs to represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest.

A few words on the matter:

The Greek singer who approached me did so out of appreciation and a deep conviction that I’m an Israeli creator who is clearly identified with Israel. She got to know me as part of the Israeli delegation to Eurovision, where I always raise a clear voice against antisemitism, even in difficult circumstances.

The fact that I was approached as an Israeli composer is, in my opinion, an important message of support, courage, and solidarity. This is only the first phase of submissions — there are over 260 candidates — yet choosing me as an Israeli, despite boycotts and negative voices, is a small but significant step toward legitimizing Israel in the cultural world.

Unfortunately, I am already seeing harsh reactions against the Greek singer, simply because she chose to collaborate with an Israeli artist. To me, this only proves how important it is that we continue to create and make our voices heard.

I am a proud Israeli and will continue to say that on every platform. Above all, I will keep giving my best to help choose the best Israeli representative and ensure their success. This year, as always, having learned the “language of Eurovision,” we will do everything we can to select the best and most fitting representative, hoping to bring Eurovision home to Israel.”

Keren Peles’ statement sends a clear message in favor of cooperation and cultural dialogue, while also confirming Eurovisionfun’s exclusive information regarding her participation in one of the songs submitted to ERT for the Greek national final for Eurovision 2026.

Her song for the national final, which has already sparked interest behind the scenes of the selection process, stands out for its modern sound, strong melody, and the dynamic performance of Xannova Xan — an artist combining unique aesthetics with an international profile. In addition to Posidonas Giannopoulos’ Greek lyrics, the song also includes English lyrics, keeping a distinctly Greek element in its composition.
