The new US ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, marked the start of her diplomatic posting with a music night in downtown Athens on Sunday, hosted by Greek pop star Konstantinos Argiros.
The event drew prominent Greek politicians and business figures, including Maritime Affairs Minister Vassilis Kikilias, Labor Minister Niki Kerameus, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni, and New Democracy lawmaker and former minister Christos Staikouras.
Guilfoyle arrived with family and close friends and received a warm welcome from guests. Taking the stage briefly, she thanked attendees and voiced her eagerness to assume her new role.
“You will enjoy this journey. I will not disappoint you, I will not disappoint the United States, I will not disappoint Greece,” she said, according to local media reports, drawing applause from the audience.
Guilfoyle is due to officially begin her term on Tuesday, when she presents her credentials to President Konstantinos Tasoulas at the Presidential Mansion.
