Pop singer-songwriter Maria Ellis is back with her new pop single “Hater,” which is bold and unapologetic.

A Greek-American artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Ellis co-wrote the song with Reach (who also produced it). It has a message about spotting somebody’s ill intentions and rising above the fake friendships, relationships, and hidden agendas.

Ellis’ crisp, crystalline vocals are reminiscent of Ariana Grande meets the early musical work of Beyoncé (Destiny’s Child era).

“Hater” has a catchy beat to it, and its lyrics are timely, relevant, and relatable, especially in this digital age; moreover, it’s an ode of female empowerment.

“I’m so excited to share this track with the fans,” Ellis exclaimed. “It includes elements of trap pop production and cheeky lyrics.”

“The song is about realizing someone close to you actually doesn’t like you,” she observed.

“Everyone’s dealt with fake friends and this song perfectly encapsulates how good it feels to cut them off,” she added.

The song’s music video was directed by Jasper Soloff.

Ellis holds the distinction of being one of very few female pop artists that writes and produces her own music.

“Hater” is available on digital service providers by clicking here. It garners two thumbs up, and hopefully, this is a harbinger of more quality new music from Maria Ellis for the rest of the year.
