On the occasion of this year’s organization of the Olympia Marathon 2025, a Press Conference was held at the City Hall of Ancient Olympia, in the presence of representatives of the Local Government and the Organizing Committee.
The Mayor of Ancient Olympia, Aris Panagiotopoulos, emphasized the importance of the race for the promotion and tourism development of the region, characterizing it as “an institution that connects sports with our cultural heritage”.
The Deputy Mayor for Sports, Antonis Chrysanthakopoulos, spoke of a “reboot of the institution”, highlighting the Municipality’s commitment to actively support the organization.
For his part, the President of the Marathon, Haris Spiliopoulos, announced that the race will take place on November 29–30, 2025, with participants from all over Greece and abroad. This year’s event will be dedicated to Charilaos Vasilakos, the first Olympic Marathon Champion, as a tribute to the historic journey of the sport.
Vasilis Blessios, member of the Organizing Committee, and Dimitris Kostarias, treasurer of the Marathon, presented the new development plan and competition program, underlining the role of the Marathon as a pillar of athletic and tourist development for the region.

Of particular importance is the symbolic 1,000 m race, dedicated to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and to Paralympic Champion Polychronis Chronopoulos, as a message of equality and participation for all.
