An Albanian was arrested in Athens after the police chased him for several minutes in an operation that began with a signal to check the vehicle, following suspicions raised by the DI.AS team, which was on patrol in the “Amarousi” area on “Neratziotissis” street.

When the driver of the vehicle, who after verification turned out to be Albanian, was signaled for a stop, he increased his speed, trying to outrun the police.

The latter did not give up and continued the pursuit on “Neratziotissis” street towards the ISAP “Irini” station and on narrow streets parallel to “Marinov Antypa” street.

At the intersection of “Folegandros” and “Smyrnis” streets, the driver abandoned the car and fled on foot.

The police also continued the pursuit on foot, until his arrest at “Marinov Antypa 56” street.

When police officers returned to the abandoned vehicle, they discovered that another person had moved it. The car was eventually found abandoned by the DIAS Team on “Iras 60” street in Heraklion.

The perpetrator is a 32-year-old Albanian, identified as Marsel Ndreca from Miloti. He is accused of attempted theft until the car is taken to the station and checked for anything inside, as it is locked.

According to police sources, the arrested man has been arrested 10 times for various criminal offenses, and he has also been banned from entering Greece.

The investigation continues as a second person involved is sought.
