After a relatively balmy weekend with clear skies in most parts of the country, meteorologists say that a new bout of wet weather is expected to hit Greece from the west.

The phenomenon is seen starting in the early hours of Monday, peaking on Tuesday and easing off as of Wednesday.

According to forecasts, though the Ionian islands, the western mainland and parts of northern Greece will certainly be affected, the greater Athens area will bear the brunt of the wet weather.

Meteorologists warn residents in eastern areas like Spata and Peania, northern suburbs like Halandri and Maroussi, and downtown Athens to brace for strong downpours and winds.
