This season, Athens’ Pallas Theatre will present two high-profile productions, both of which will be performed in Greek with English subtitles to make them accessible to international audiences.
The season opens with the award-winning musical Annie, which will premiere on 1 November and run until 21 December.
This production features a full orchestra and a large ensemble of renowned actors performing the songs that have captivated audiences since the musical’s Broadway debut in 1977.
Starring in the production are Yannis Stankoglou as Oliver Warbucks, Danai Pappa as Grace Farrell and Maria Katsandri as Miss Hannigan.
Set in New York during the Great Depression, the musical tells the story of an orphan girl who never stops believing in a brighter future despite hardships.
On 13 November, the theatre will premiere Alexandria, a new play running until 21 December. It is directed by the renowned artistic director Fokas Evangelinos and features an original script by Zeti Fitsiou and music by Evanthia Reboutsika.
Set in interwar Alexandria, the production blends poetry, music and drama to recreate the city’s cultural diversity. At its heart is a love story that reflects the resilience of the Greek spirit.
