Several Classic Ocean County Events Return This Weekend


OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Looking for something to do this weekend? Several of Ocean County’s iconic, long-running events are back, along with some new ones that are sure to become classics.

As we get into autumn, get into the seasonal fun with these five weekend events.

Albert Music Hall: Songwriters in the Pines – Bluegrass & Folk Show

  • Sept. 26, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Albert Music Hall (131 Wells Mills Road, Waretown)
  • Enjoy an evening of original bluegrass and folk music with a local lineup. Headlining the show is Woody Guthrie’s grandson and his band, Cole Quest and the City Pickers. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; show starts at 6:30 p.m.

Saint Barbara’s 52nd Annual Greek Festival

  • Sept. 26, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Sept. 27, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Sept. 28, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church (2200 Church Road, Toms River)
  • This classic event features Greek dancing, live music, games, raffles and of course, plenty of delicious Greek eats. There is no parking on-site; park at Ocean County College and a shuttle will take you to the festival.

Jacks & Lights

  • Sept. 26, dark to 10 p.m.; Sept. 27, dark to 10 p.m.; Sept. 28, dark to 9 p.m.
  • Argos Farm (1250 Lacey Road, Forked River)
  • It’s never too early for Halloween with this family-friendly jack-o’-lantern walkthrough. After enjoying the lighted trail, try some tasty treats or visit the pumpkin patch. 43rd Annual Old Time Barnegat Bay Decoy And Gunning Show

  • Sept. 27, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sept. 28, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Tuckerton Seaport (120 W. Main St., Tuckerton) and Tip Seaman County Park (120 Lakeside Dr., Tuckerton)
  • Two days of Pinelands heritage at this free event filled with activities, demos, vendors and much more. Participate in contests or try some hands-on activities. This will be held rain or shine. Find more information here.
