St. George’s festival promises fun and food galore!

The St. George Greek Orthodox Church is set to transform Schenectady into a slice of Greece with its 49th Annual Greek Festival this weekend from September 5 to September 7, 2025.

The festival, held at the Hellenic Center on Liberty Street, promises a weekend filled with live music, mouth-watering Greek cuisine, and vibrant cultural performances.

Rev. Father Neofitos Sarigiannis expressed his excitement, saying,

We are all very excited for our upcoming Greek Festival. It will be my family’s fifth festival with the Schenectady community of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church since being ordained in 2019.

Visitors can indulge in a variety of Greek delicacies, including Moussaka, Olympian Kotta, and Lamb Shanks Yiovetsi. For those with a sweet tooth, the bakery section will offer traditional pastries like Baklava and Kourambiethes. The festival will also feature performances by the St. George Hellenic Dancers, showcasing traditional folk dances in authentic costumes. The Agora Marketplace will offer arts, crafts, and Greek specialty items, while the St. George Bookstore will have children’s books and religious gifts.

Exciting raffles will be held, with prizes including cash, a Smart TV, a laptop, and an iPad. Church tours and a Memorial Service commemorating the 24th Anniversary of 9/11 will also be part of the event.

Admission is free, and more information can be found online.
