The Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) opens its 2025–2026 season with an ambitious program that bridges global artistic excellence and homegrown creativity. One of Greece’s most renowned cultural venues — and a world stage for classical, traditional, and contemporary music — will host leading soloists, orchestras, acclaimed Greek artists, theater and dance companies, as well as productions for the whole family.

Great Performers

The 2025–2026 artistic year at Megaron opens on October 17 with acclaimed soprano Asmik Grigorian, whose explosive presence and deep expressiveness will be accompanied by pianist Lukas Geniušas in a lyrical program devoted to Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. Just days later, on October 22, celebrated cellist Sol Gabetta joins forces with pianist Bertrand Chamayou for a demanding repertoire that moves from Mendelssohn and Brahms to contemporary masters Wolfgang Rihm and Jörg Widmann.

- Nov 14–15, 2025: Teodor Currentzis and the Utopia Orchestra present Wagner’s The Ring without Words in Lorin Maazel’s legendary orchestral arrangement — a Greek premiere.

- Dec 16, 2025: Les Arts Florissants under Paul Agnew bring four cantatas from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.

Rachmaninoff Cycle
Five distinguished Greek pianists — Vassilis Varvaresos, Vassilis Tsabropoulos, George-Emmanuel Lazaridis, Alexia Mouza, and Alexandra Papastefanou — dedicate a full cycle to Rachmaninoff’s piano works (Nov 2025–Feb 2026).
Christmas at Megaron
From Dec 20, 2025 to Jan 5, 2026, families are invited to a new musical: Aladdin and the Three Christmas Wishes, featuring ZAF and a creative team led by Myrto Kontova, Sophia Spyratou, Stefanos Korkolis, and Gerasimos Evangelatos.
Dance at Megaron
- Nov 7–9, 2025: Les Grands Ballets Canadiens perform work by Hélène Blackburn.
- July 17–20, 2026: The legendary Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch returns with a signature production.
Jazz @ Megaron (Nov 1–18, 2025)
The jazz series features the Stacey Kent Trio, Richard Bona & Alfredo Rodriguez Trio, and leading figures from the Greek jazz scene.
Chamber Music
Historic ensembles Borodin Quartet (Jan 19, 2026) and Juilliard Quartet (Apr 23, 2026) highlight the season’s chamber offerings.
Spring Festival (Mar–Apr 2026)
Highlights include Rufus Wainwright’s Dream Requiem (Greek premiere), a Beethoven concerto marathon with Kiril Gerstein, a Rachmaninoff concerto cycle with Denis Kozhukhin, and a new ballet by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui with the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève.

Orchestras in Residence
The Athens State Orchestra and the Hellenic Youth Symphony Orchestra (ELSON) return. A highlight: Leonidas Kavakos and cellist Timotheos Gavriilidis-Petrin perform Brahms’ Double Concerto with ELSON (Dec 20, 2025).
Educational Programs
Workshops, concerts, and tours for all ages run throughout the season, with presales beginning Sept 15, 2025.
annexM Visual Arts
The Megaron’s visual arts hub presents exhibitions by Jenny Marketou, Giorgos Drivas (Resident M 2025), and Andreas Kassapis, engaging critically with themes of technology, AI, and human/non-human relations.
