Here’s how to spend Labor Day weekend in Silicon Valley

Staying local for the long holiday weekend? Labor Day marks the return of longtime Peninsula festivals, plus opportunities to listen to live music, pick up new plants, shop for artisan goods and more. Find holiday weekend happenings around the region below. All events are free unless otherwise noted.

Silicon Valley Shakespeare, Saratoga: Catch the final weekend of Silicon Valley Shakespeare’s productions of “Richard III” and “Emma” at Sanborn County Park. “Richard III,” which features an all-female and nonbinary cast, wraps up Aug. 28-29. “Emma,” a feminist take on the Jane Austen novel, concludes Aug. 30-31. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase.

Music in the Park, San Carlos: The city’s summer concert series concludes with Burnin’ Vernon (funk/blues/jazz) Aug 29. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic and a blanket or chair. Beer, wine and other beverages are sold at the event.

Music on the Square 2025, Redwood City: The Friday night summer music series in downtown Redwood City concludes with pop/soul band Pride & Joy Aug. 29.

Summer Nights at Devil’s Canyon, San Carlos: Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company’s monthly summer concert series is back for its penultimate night with a throwback theme. Catch live music from 6-8 p.m. featuring Matt Minter, The Last Decade: California’s Alternative Tribute and Rage on Parade. The event will also include food trucks, craft beer, wine and root beer, plus a vintage and pop culture-themed vendor market.

70s Disco Party and SF Comedy Competition, Menlo Park: The Guild Theatre will be home to The Hustle: 70s Disco Party Aug. 29, followed by the 49th annual SF Comedy Competition’s first round Aug. 30 featuring 16 comedians and two shows early and late.

Plant Exchange, Mountain View: The Mountain View Public Library’s plant exchange is back by popular demand. Bring plant donations and swap them with other gardeners. All types of plants are welcome, including houseplants, cuttings, plants in containers, small trees, seedlings and shrubs. You don’t need to bring a plant to take one.

Great Race, Los Gatos: The 4-mile course covers Vasona and Oak Meadow parks, with a 1-mile kids’ fun run at 8 a.m. before the main event at 8:30 a.m.

Kings Mountain Art Fair, Woodside: The 62nd annual Kings Mountain Art Fair showcases fine art from 130 artists among the redwoods above the town of Woodside every Labor Day weekend. Belmont Greek Festival: Enjoy live Greek music and dancing, mythology plays, craft boutiques and Greek food favorites like loukoumades, spanakopita and gyros at the 53rd iteration of this Peninsula summer festival. Local parking and a free shuttle service will be available. Take-and-bake orders for frozen entrees and fresh desserts will open after the festival this year on Sept. 3.

Ye Olde Town Band, Los Altos: The classic band – complete with 14 instruments – will play its second-to-last concert of the season. The August program will include performances of “Copacabana,” “Yakety Sax,” “King Of The Road” and more. A playground is nearby for children.

Labor Day Cookout, Sunnyvale: Treehouse Hotel Silicon Valley hosts its biggest cookout of the summer in its beer garden. Each ticket includes four food or drink tickets that attendees can split according to their preference.
