An eight-year-old student from Crete won the silver prize at the Debussy International Music Competition, an annual online music event for contestants from all over the world.
Alexandra Gouda, 8, a student of the Rethimno Municipal Conservatory in Crete, was awarded the second prize in the junior category (8-10) in piano.
The young, talented Cretan student delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing her artistic skills and maturity, and received positive reviews.
The young girl’s family expressed their elation over her achievement, while the director of the Rethimno Conservatory extended his warmest congratulations to Alexandra for her “exceptional achievement,” adding that her success not only reflects the student’s personal achievement but also acts as a source of pride for her school.
“As a conservatory, we feel great joy in contributing to the musical cultivation of the new generation, and we will continue to support in every possible way the talents that emerge from within our institution,” he said.
The Debussy International Music Competition is an online music competition that aims to fully challenge the virtuosity and artistic excellence of performers of all instruments, conducting, composition, voice & chamber music of all nationalities and countries.
The competition is divided into categories that reflect the age, level, experience, and performance styles of the candidates.
