Tornos News | SANI FESTIVAL 2025

After their sweeping performance at last year’s Sani Festival, the legendary Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo returned to Sani Hill on Saturday, August 16, for another sold-out performance that flooded the festival stage with rhythm, energy and authentic Mediterranean temperament. Tonino Baliardo, virtuoso guitarist and leader of the band, led an explosive live show with sounds that perfectly balanced traditional flamenco, Latin salsa and pop – the unique musical blend that has made Gipsy Kings a global phenomenon.

With songs like “Bamboleo”, “Volare”, “Djobi Djoba”, “Baila Me” and “Un Amor”, Gipsy Kings united old and new audiences from every corner of the world in a musical celebration full of rhythm, dance and emotion. The audience danced non-stop, sang loudly, and traveled to Mediterranean landscapes, with the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea and the starry sky of Halkidiki underlining the magic of the moment.

Originally from the Roma community in Arles, France, Tonino Baliardo started out as a street musician and became a global star. The band began performing at private parties in Saint-Tropez, where they charmed celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot, Charlie Chaplin and Kirk Douglas. Since then, the Gipsy Kings have sold over 20 million albums, achieving platinum and diamond certifications worldwide, while the Grammy Award they won for the album Savor Flamenco (2013) sealed their reputation as ambassadors of world music.

Their concert at the historic Sani Hill was not just a performance – it was a true musical party, full of pulse, authenticity and Mediterranean passion. Another unforgettable night for the Sani Festival audience and further proof that music unites, moves and inspires.

Sani Festival 2025 closes on Saturday, August 23 with a grand tribute to the great Greek lyricist Lina Nikolakopoulou, in an evening starring Manolis Mitsias, Glykeria, Pizza Papadopoulou and other important performers, accompanied by the Salonique Brass Band – a musical farewell that will celebrate poetry, lyrics and the power of Greek musical tradition.
