Australian-born fast food chains are steadily carving out space in a market long dominated by American giants — and a new move by one Greek-inspired brand could push that trend even further.
Zeus Street Greek, a rapidly growing $80 million food chain known for its fresh take on traditional Greek dishes, is partnering with Woolworths to bring its signature flavours into Aussie kitchens.
The collaboration will introduce a 20-product range — including pilaf rice, sauces, signature rubs, and DIY pita kits — available exclusively at Woolworths stores. The aim is to let customers recreate restaurant-quality meals at home.
“Our Woolworths range is inspired directly by our in-store menu,” said Zeus CEO Ramon Castillo. “Some products are almost identical to what we serve in our restaurants.”
Since opening its first store in Drummoyne, Sydney, in 2014, Zeus has grown to 40 locations nationwide. Castillo now has his sights set on adding 100 more stores over the next five years, building a full national presence with 140 outlets.

Zeus’ expansion plans target a mix of Gen Z consumers and families in communities with diverse demographics. “There are plenty of pizza, Mexican, and burger options — but very few Greek fast food stores,” Castillo said. “We’re proud to be leading that space.”
The Woolworths deal also positions Zeus as a potential market leader in Greek food products. “When you shop for Mexican food, you think of Old El Paso,” Castillo noted. “There’s no equivalent brand for Greek food — and we want to change that.”
