In the familiar setting of the Dormition of Serres and with the mystical Lake Kerkini as a backdrop, the Wake Up Festival returns dynamically, once again making its mark as one of the most authentic youth art festivals in the Greek region. From August 1st to 3rd, the courtyard of the Dormition High School is transformed into a vibrant, colorful canvas of creation, expression and alternative entertainment.
The festival, which is celebrating its seventh anniversary this year, is inspired by the cycle of returning to nature and community, like the heron that returns over the lake every summer. Thus, thousands of visitors, from Serres and beyond, return to the same place every August, seeking sounds, images and experiences that escape the established.
The 2025 line-up promises three nights full of musical intensity and multi-stylistic identity. On Friday, Planet of Zeus, the psychedelic Naxatras and the dynamic Bad Blood Orchestra take to the stage. On Saturday, the explosive Kostantis Pistiolis, the duo Kadinelia and the multi-dimensional Kos K. follow, while Sunday culminates with Bloody Hawk, the rising Ladele and the group XDC.
Beyond the live acts, the Wake Up Festival stands out for its multi-faceted program: live painting, screenings of musical documentaries, environmental awareness days, organized excursions to the natural landscapes of Serres, a photography exhibition, handmade creations and local products. The goal is to connect music with ecology, culture and local identity.
For those who choose the full experience, the festival offers free camping on the school grounds, toilets and showers, while visitors will find cold beers, local flavours and vegan options. Admission is free for children under 10, while for the rest it is a first come, first served basis.
Wake Up Festival remains a celebration that is not only aimed at music lovers, but also at those who want to awaken within themselves the need for community, creation and a return to the essential.
