Toronto’s Greek Summer Festival draws thousands of visitors

The Greek community of Toronto came together once again in a powerful show of unity for the Greek Summer Festival on July 4-6, drawing over 6,000 visitors to the grounds of St John’s Church in Scarborough.

Hosted by the Greek Community of Toronto, the event offered traditional food, music and dancing.

“This year’s festival was a living testament to our mission – a unique experience filled with tradition, culture and unity,” organizers said in a statement.

Community president Betty Skoutakis welcomed attendees, thanked the youth for their active participation and praised parents for keeping children close to Greek traditions. She emphasized the festival’s role in preserving Hellenism for future generations.

The event raised $186,418 in donations, including $10,350 from the Toronto Cretan Association Knossos, for the installation of an elevator at the Polymenakeion Cultural Center at the Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Greek state broadcaster ERT reported.
