Greece is expected to experience a significantly warmer-than-average August, according to the long-term climate forecast issued by Meteo.gr, which analyzed 400 scenarios from eight international meteorological centers.

96 percent of the scenarios project that the mean temperature in Greece will exceed mean temperatures from 1993-2016.

Specifically, the probability of higher temperatures of up to +1°C (1.8°F) is 35 percent.

The probability of higher temperatures ranging from +1°C (1.8°F) to +2°C (3.6°F) above the reference period is 38 percent, while temperatures higher by 2°C (3.6°F) is a not-easily discountable 23 percent.

There is also a 4 percent chance that temperatures will be lower by up to 1°C.

The combined mean temperature anomaly of all the models is +1.34°C (2.41°F) above the reference period.

This warming trend extends across most Europe, with the highest anomalies expected in central Europe and the Balkans. In the Mediterranean, western regions are forecast to experience a warmer summer than eastern ones.

Meteo.gr notes that such long-range outlooks are subject to high uncertainty and are only intended to indicate a general monthly and seasonal trends. Daily, and local, temperature fluctuations may differ significantly from these averages due to variable atmospheric conditions.
