Whet your appetite, bring your wallet and put on your dancing shoes because it’s time to celebrate all things Greek.
The annual Ipswich Greek Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13, at the Hellenic Center.
“Experience Greek hospitality (philoxenia) and entertainment (diaskethasi). You will be immersed in the spirit of Hellenic culture, heritage, and the essence of our homeland,” organizers said.
“Enjoy our succulent lamb and souvlakia, bite into a scrumptious gyro wrap, or crunch into a fresh, crisp Greek village salad,” at the food stand.
There will be music and dancing — as always — under the tent. “The ultimate five-member Greek band,” Enosis, will play.
The Boston Lykeion Ellinidon dancers will be back again this year. This is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of traditional Hellenic culture in New England.
If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, there will be a market inside the Hellenic Center.
Tickets are $5 for both days. “Rain or shine under the big white tent,” organizers said of their plans for the weather. The Hellenic Center is at 117 County Road (Route 1A) in Ipswich.
