Buzz’ Ayaz is an innovative quartet founded by Antonis Antoniou (formerly of Monsieur Doumani and Trio Tekke) based in the divided capital of Cyprus, Nicosia. The band brings forth a captivating sound of East Mediterranean psychedelic music, showcased in their self-titled debut album, which is a rich soundscape of dub electronics, 70s psychedelic organ, rumbling bass clarinet, amplified folk instruments, ritualistic beats, and melodic influences from Greek and Anatolian traditions. The band members represent both sides of the divided city, and their music serves as a conscious attempt to give a voice to the city as a whole. Their vibrant sound echoes across concrete walls and checkpoints. Released in August 2024 through the renowned German label Glitterbeat Records, their debut album received outstanding reviews, reaching number one on the World Music Charts Europe and the Transglobal World Music Charts.
Joining them for the event are Gleis 11, known for their Anatolian psychedelic rock from Munich, and Pnema, categorized under ‘Music from Greece.’
