ATHENS – Theatre of the No – Jazz Club, invites you to a one-of-a-kind evening of live music, featuring three distinctive voices in contemporary songwriting: Kostas Sidirokastritis, Jef Maarawi, and Odysseas Tziritas. Blending atmospheric folk-rock, indie folk, and improvisation, the three artists will present their personal work and join forces on stage for a special performance on Thursday, June 19, 10 PM.
Kostas Sidirokastritis is a songwriter based in Athens. In this solo performance, he presents a selection of older compositions as well as many new, unreleased pieces. His personal work is an unpretentious blend of various musical genres, with emphasis on song and improvisation. In recent years, he has shared his personal band, the Kostas Sidirokastritis Group, with his dear friends and collaborators Haris Charalambous (bass), Pantelis Takis (drums), and Andreas Polyzogopoulos (trumpet), with whom he recorded the album First Colour, released at the end of 2023.
Jef Maarawi, born in São Paulo with roots from Greece, Brazil, and Syria, began his musical journey in Athens at 17. His sound combines the folk of Bob Dylan and Sufjan Stevens, the intensity of Pixies and Nirvana, and the vibrancy of Tropicália from Jorge Ben Jor and Caetano Veloso.
With three albums under Inner Ear Records (Once Part of a Whole Ship, Comfort Food, Terra Papagalli), Jef has shaped a recognizable musical world. His most recent album, Gospel, was recorded in seven days and is a raw, personal commentary on resilience and transition. He draws inspiration from the atmosphere of artists like Gareth Liddiard and Grace Cummings, and the soul of 1970s Brazilian music.
Odysseas Tzirítas, known from his work with Lungs, Room Conductor, and Midwives, presents his new solo project as ‘How Fídon Bára Harks’. A voice and an electric guitar are the only ‘tools’ in an instinctive and personal narrative, starring the mysterious character Fídon Bára in the lyrics.
