The Athens Epidaurus Festival (AEF) makes a vibrant comeback at the Lycabettus Hill open-air theater starting May 28, featuring four performances crafted for the city’s younger generation.
Running through June 1, twenty-three artists will present a diverse music program that revives unforgettable concerts with a contemporary twist, drawing inspiration from electronica, ambient, Afro-Greek hip-hop, and avant-garde pop music.
The festival’s return to Lycabettus Hill was made possible through an agreement between the Municipality of Athens and the festival’s organizers, aiming to reconnect the event with its historic venue.
This agreement was formalized during a meeting attended by Athens Mayor Haris Doukas, Athens Epidaurus Festival Artistic Director Katerina Evangelatos, and Technopolis City of Athens President Kostis Papaioannou.

Mayor Doukas highlighted the municipality’s dedication to preserving Lycabettus as a cultural hub, hosting high-quality events accessible to all.
“The country’s leading public cultural institution – one of Europe’s oldest festivals – is returning to the Lycabettus Theater, a landmark on the cultural map of Athens,” he said.
Greek and international artists take the stage
Marking its 70th anniversary, the Athens Epidaurus Festival will open on May 28 at Lycabettus Hill with a Greek nu-jazz concert infused with influences from the African diaspora.
Curated by musician MC Yinka, the performance will bring together vocalists Jerome Kalouta, Idra Kayne, Ladele, Urban Lynx, Angelos Angelou, and Andreas Polyzogopoulos. This vibrant show invites audiences on a musical journey where hip-hop intersects with contemporary Afro-Greek expression.
On May 29, British band Spiritualized, renowned for their timeless psychedelic sound, will take the stage.
The lineup continues on May 31 with Arca, a bold and influential figure in global electronic music, making her long-awaited Greek debut alongside performer Evita Manzi.
The program will conclude on June 1 with a special appearance by Nalyssa Green, who will perform some of her most beloved hits, delivering a powerful and heartfelt finale to the festival’s return at Lycabettus.
Following the announcement, Evangelatos described the theater as an “integral part” of the festival’s 70-year legacy and noted it will host four evening events featuring a distinctive program.
“I hope this initiative will take root and flourish in the years to come,” she added.
