It might not be as famous as the Eurovision Song Contest that dominates headlines in Europe each spring, but the International Low-Vision Song Contest (ILSC) is an inclusive, multicultural event that provides a global platform for blind and visually impaired musicians to share their art and talent.
This year, Greece and Cyprus secured first and second place with their respective entries.
Greece’s winning song, “Θα Τραγουδώ Όσο Ζω” (“I Will Sing As Long As I Live”), was performed by Katholiki Tharenou and Dimitris Tharenos.
Cyprus placed second with “Πυξίδα” (“Compass”), performed by Nicoletta Livadioti and Nikos Demetriou.
The 2025 edition, held on May 16, featured 25 participating countries and, for the first time, included a live audience. Audiences worldwide were also invited to cast their votes, underscoring the event’s commitment to global participation, accessibility, and inclusivity.
